Morocco Volubilis

Volubilis, Morocco – 2018. Volubilis was first developed around the 3rd century BC as a Berber settlement and by the 1st century AD it fell under Roman rule as the capital of the Roman province of Mauritania. It covered an area of about 42 hectares (100 acres) and the principal product of the area was olives. Rome rule ended around 285AD but was inhabited for at least another 700 years.
